Data protection officer

What happens when you open a page
Your browser sends technically necessary data to the server: IP address, time, the address requested, browser type and operating system. This occurs whenever any website is served and is recorded in server logs. We do not analyse these logs or combine them with other data.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating the site securely
(Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Retention: logs are deleted automatically after a short period.
Hosting
This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which processes the log data above as a processor on our behalf, under a data processing agreement and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses for transfers to third countries.
No cookies, no analytics, no third-party services
We set no cookies and use no analytics or tracking tools. There are no social media buttons, maps, videos or fonts loaded from external servers. The typeface is served from our own server, so no connection to any third party is made.
Storage in your browser
If you dismiss the notice about the other language version, your browser remembers that locally so the notice does not reappear. The only thing stored is that you closed it. This value never leaves your device and never reaches us. You can clear it in your browser settings.
Equipment requests
The form on the equipment page sends nothing to a server. Your entries are assembled into an email in your browser, which your own email programme then opens. We receive your data only once you send that message.
We then process what you entered: name, degree programme, email address,
phone number if given, dates, occasion and the items requested.
Purpose: handling your request and the loan itself.
Legal basis: performance of your request or the loan agreement
(Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Retention: until the items are returned and accounted for, then in
line with our financial record-keeping obligations.
Contacting us by email
When you write to us, we process your message and contact details in order to answer (Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR together with our duties under HSG 2014). Advice is confidential: we pass nothing on without your agreement, the university included. On request we advise anonymously.
Please bear in mind that unencrypted email is not a secure channel.
Recipients
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising. It is passed on only where necessary to deal with your request, for instance to our hosting provider, or where we are legally obliged to do so.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Write to vorsitz.oeh@hok.ac.at.
If you believe we are processing your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority: Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at.
