The four levels sit inside one another: your year group belongs to a degree programme, the programme to the university, the university to the national body. Work down this list when something goes wrong. Most things are settled at the first level.
-
Level 1 · your year group
Year representatives
Your year spokesperson and their deputy. They are in day-to-day contact with everyone in the year and are the first people to ask about anything to do with your studies.
-
Level 2 · your programme
Study representatives
They formally represent everyone on a degree programme and work closely with the year representatives. They also manage their own budget. See who they are
-
Level 3 · HOK
University representation
Elected by every student at HOK, this level coordinates the union's work across the whole university: advice and services, formal representation, projects, events.
-
Level 4 · Austria
National representation
The nationwide body for all students in Austria, whatever they study and wherever. It makes the case for students at the highest level and works with the local unions.
What about the academic board?
The academic board is not a union body but a university one. It decides on curricula, examination rules and teaching. Four of its seats belong to students, appointed by the university representation.
